‘There Is No Money In Gospel Music’ – Frank Edwards

‘There Is No Money In Gospel Music’ – Frank Edwards
Frank Edwards
The RockTown boss stated that gospel music and money are not affiliated but it is all about preaching the gospel.
Speaking with Punch, Frank said;
“There are so many reasons.
Firstly, you have to understand that the industry and ministry is not the same thing.
Gospel music is a ministry, the other one is an industry, so it functions fully like that.
The gospel ministry is totally different from the secular industry even though you might say that there is a business side of it which makes it similar. But in gospel ministry, the business aspect of it is never the focus.
I tell people that if you want to make money, don’t do gospel music; you would have a lot of issues.
Gospel music means one is reaching out to people through music; the others are strictly entertainment or at least 70-80 per cent entertainment. ”

Iran’s only female Olympic medalist dumps country, reveals shocking ordeal

Iran’s only female Olympic medalist dumps country, reveals shocking ordeal

Iran’s only female Olympic medalist has said on social media she had left her homeland.
Reuters reports that the Taekwondo champion, Kimia Alizadeh, said this was because she had had enough of being used by Iranian authorities as a propaganda tool.
Alizadeh, who won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, implied in an Instagram post that she had now moved to Europe.
“No one has invited me to Europe and I haven’t been given a tempting offer.
“But I accept the pain and hardship of homesickness because I didn’t want to be part of hypocrisy, lies, injustice and flattery,” she said.
Alizadeh said the Islamic Republic’s authorities had attributed her success to their management and the fact that she wore the Islamic veil, which is obligatory in Iran.
“I am one of the millions of oppressed women in Iran whom they’ve been playing for years… I wore whatever they told me and repeated whatever they ordered.
“Every sentence they ordered I repeated. None of us matter for them, we are just tools”, she said.
Alizadeh said that while the government exploited her medals politically, officials would humiliate her with remarks such as “It is not virtuous for a woman to stretch her legs!”
Alizadeh said at the time of her medal in the 57kg category that it had made her happy for Iranian girls.
On Sunday she appeared torn by her decision.
“Should I start with hello, goodbye or condolences? Hello oppressed people of Iran, goodbye noble people of Iran, my condolences to you people who are always mourning,” she wrote.
Mahin Farhadizadeh, a deputy Iranian sports minister, said: “I have not read Kimia’s post.
“But as far as I know she always wanted to continue her studies in physiotherapy,” the semi-official ISNA news agency reported.

Oyedepo dismisses top officials for stealing from Church’s treasury

Oyedepo dismisses top officials for stealing from Church’s treasury

The founder and presiding Bishop of Faith Tabernacle, aka Winners Chapel, David Oyedepo has reportedly dismissed some top officials of his church for stealing from the church’s treasury.

Oyedepo announced the dismissal of the officials on Saturday, January 11, 2020, while speaking during an empowerment summit organised for the church’s ordained workers.
He said, “We had no choice but to dismiss them. You can imagine top church officials engaging in doubling figures and other dubious practices. After we dismissed them, we discovered more fraud.”
“Those who should discover the fraud were the ones involved in it. One of them refused to confess until the last minute. Can you imagine accountants perpetrating fraud in the house of God?
He went on to urge the church members not to sympathise with dismissed officials, saying if they do, they are partakers of the evil act.
“Don’t employ them, don’t sympathise. Whoever sympathises with the wicked is wicked himself. Don’t sympathise with any perpetrator of fraud, otherwise, you are a partaker of the evil act.”

Rockets hit Iraq base hosting US troops: military

Rockets hit Iraq base hosting US troops: military

Its statement said eight Katyusha-type rockets landed on Al-Balad airbase, wounding two Iraqi officers and two airmen.
Al-Balad is the main airbase for Iraq's F-16s, which it bought from the US to upgrade its air capacities.
The base had held a small US Air Force contingent as well as American contractors, but a majority had been evacuated following tensions between the US and Iran over the past two weeks, military sources told AFP.
"About 90 percent of the US advisers, and employees of Sallyport and Lockheed Martin who are specialised in aircraft maintenance, have withdrawn to Taji and Erbil after threats," one of the sources said.
"There are no more than 15 US soldiers and a single plane at al-Balad," the source added.
Military bases hosting US troops have been subject to volleys of rocket and mortar attacks in recent months that have mostly wounded Iraqi forces, but also killed one American contractor last month.
That death set off a series of dramatic developments, with the US carrying out strikes against a pro-Iran paramilitary group in Iraq as well as a convoy carrying top Iranian and Iraqi commanders outside Baghdad airport.
Pro-Iran factions in Iraq have vowed revenge for those raids, even as Iran said it had already responded in "proportion" by striking another western airbase where US soldiers are located.
Rocket attacks against Baghdad's high-security Green Zone, where the US and other embassies are based alongside international troops, are still taking place.

APC, Buhari are threats to national unity

APC, Buhari are threats to national unity
PDP

Dirisu Yakubu – Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, described President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as threats to the nation’s unity because of their “exclusionist policies, divisive comments, disregard for rules, political witch-hunt and failure to bring perpetrators of violence to book.”
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said genuine efforts by well-meaning Nigerians and groups to ensure unity and harmonious co-existence among Nigerians “are being destroyed by the APC and the Buhari administration through their brazing acts of nepotism, total disdain for merit and complete disregard for the federal character principle in appointments, projects, and programmes, to the vexation of the generality of Nigerians.”
The statement read: “The party alerts that President Muhammadu Buhari’s habitual body count and reference to the sordid experience of the unfortunate Civil War, particularly to the youth, is rather fueling disunity, as his administration is still perpetuating similar, if not worse injustices, inequality, corruption and impunity that lead to disunity.
“It is sad that Mr. President is always trying to face the nation backward instead of looking ahead to a glorious future. This is a sorry situation, which further confirms that the Buhari Presidency and the APC have nothing cheering to offer to the future of our nation.
“The PDP holds that in gathering the youth to engage in civil war recounts, while failing to take concrete actions to end the injustices of his administration and prosecute perpetrators of political and sectional violence under his watch, President Buhari is indeed doing more harm than good to the psyche of young Nigerians.
“Exclusionist policies as well as repugnant protection of killers and corrupt elements, which have apparently become policies of the APC, are the very marked difference between the APC and our party, the PDP, which promotes inclusiveness, equal opportunity, justice, fairness, equity, regard for merit, federal character principle and security of citizens, which fostered national stability under the PDP.
“Alas, the APC has done our nation a lot of harm. Indeed, there is no way the unity of our nation can be guaranteed under the APC that thrives in witch-hunt, violence and division; and which has not taken any step to demand for the prosecution of perpetrators of the mass killings in Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kano, Taraba, Yobe, Zamfara, Bauchi, Katsina, Adamawa, Ekiti, Niger, Borno and other parts of our nation.
“If the Buhari Presidency and the APC are indeed committed to the unity of our nation, they should start by retracing their steps by adhering to rules; ending all their exclusionist polices and accord equal commitment and opportunity to all sections of our country as required by the constitution.
“The Buhari Presidency must take steps to put a stop to political witch-hunt, which has become a policy of the APC administration as well as end the reported body language that appears to guarantee protection to marauders and perpetrators of violence.
“Furthermore, President Buhari should be ready to allow the prosecution of APC leaders accused of involvement in the looting of over N14 trillion from our national coffers under his watch.
“Mr. President should also be ready to commence the arrest and prosecution of all those behind the bloodletting that has turned our nation into a large funeral parlour under his administration.”

Nigerian Army has lost its integrity – Wike

Nigerian Army has lost its integrity – Wike
WikeWike

Egufe Yafugborhi – Port Harcourt

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, said on Sunday the Nigerian Army has lost its integrity for allegedly aiding elections rigging in the country.
Wike, who stated this at a church service marking the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration in Port Harcourt, noted that Nigerians would never honour members of the Armed Forces involved in election rigging.
He said: “We are not honouring those who are unprofessional and carry ballot boxes to influence the electoral process. I urge members of the Armed Forces to choose the right path in the interest of the country.
“It is unfortunate that the military has lost its integrity because of some unprofessional personnel. Nobody is afraid of the military because of their unprofessional conduct. Those who come to rig election or kill Rivers people, heaven will never remember them.”
“I thank God that the chairman of INEC has owned up that the problems with elections are the security agencies. This confirms all I have said in the past.”
The governor, however, praised the Armed Forces for preserving the unity of the country, saying “but for them, kidnappers, cultists, insurgents and armed robbers would have taken over the country.
Wike called for the institution of a reward system to encourage soldiers to put in their best for the country.

How A Nigerian Asylum Seeker 'Spent 21 Years Sleeping On London Buses'

How A Nigerian Asylum Seeker 'Spent 21 Years Sleeping On London Buses'

The story has been told of how a Nigerian asylum seeker spent 21 years sleeping on buses in London.

A Nigerian man, Sunny (not real name), spent 21 years living aboard buses in London after his asylum application was rejected, BBC reports.

While seeking asylum, Sunny was reportedly full of gratitude “for a second chance at life, hoping for a bright future, safe under the protection of Her Majesty the Queen”.

“Back then he was full of gratitude for his second chance at life,” the report said.

“He took a course in documentary-making, choosing to report on the lives of London’s homeless, never imagining he would soon be in their shoes.

“But his request for asylum was refused.

“That left him with two options: go home to a country under the iron fist of a military ruler, where his death sentence would finally be carried out, or go underground. It wasn’t a difficult choice.”

After his asylum was rejected, Sunny reportedly found himself on the streets where the London buses became a haven for him.

Sunny’s favourite spot on the buses was said to be at the back of the lower deck.

He reportedly travelled light, carrying a small tote bag, to avoid the stigma of homelessness during the day.

Describing the sitting arrangement on the buses, Sunny was quoted as saying the lower deck was the preserve of reasonable people, of families and of the elderly while the back seats were not just for the head rest but for peace of mind.

According to him, two hours of proper sleep across an entire night was “an achievement”.

“For more than two decades after his asylum application was rejected, Sunny found a safe haven aboard the buses that zigzag across London at night,” the report said.

“It was a church minister, a woman of unwavering generosity, who first bought him a monthly pass to save him multiple nightly fares. She continued to do so, month after month, and other friends would chip in if she wasn’t around.

“By day Sunny would volunteer at churches. When his work was done, he would often head to Westminster Reference Library where he could catch up on the day’s news or pick up where he’d left off in the book he’d been reading.

“He might then ask a restaurant manager if they could spare some food, and says he was rarely turned away.

“But no later than 9pm he would invariably be stepping aboard a bus for the first of three, maybe four, nightly trips across the capital.”

At dawn or when he got hungry, Sunny would head to a McDonald’s.

“He never begged but friendly staff at the Leicester Square branch would give him food and let him shave in the bathrooms. Fellow customers could be kind, too,” the report said.

Fortune smiled on Sunny when the legal team at Notre Dame de France church made an application for ”leave to remain” on his behalf provided he could prove that he had continuously lived in the UK for 20 years.

This, according to the report, would have been difficult for him since he had spent his time avoiding all records and evading detection but he was lucky to get support from a bus driver and churches where he had served.

It said: “Sunny asked the friendliest bus drivers to write him a letter of support. One obliged, confirming he was ‘a regular rider throughout the night’.

“The churches he had volunteered at over the years provided supporting statements and dug out old photographs recording his presence at charity events.”

In 2017, at the age of 55, Sunny was reportedly granted leave to remain in the UK.

Revealed! Security Agents Are Now Impregnating Teenagers In Nigerian Border Communities

Revealed! Security Agents Are Now Impregnating Teenagers In Nigerian Border Communities

tori.ng
Security agents have been accused of impregnating young girls across Nigerian border communities.

According to Punch Metro, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, an agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,  has  accused officials of various security agencies attached to border communities in Nigeria of impregnating female residents especially teenagers in their host communities.

The IPCR said this during an enlightenment programme held on Saturday at Oke-Odan in the Yewa South local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Senior Research Fellow of IPCR, Mr Akangbe Moses, said security agents were compounding the issues in the border areas through the act.

Moses said, “Security agents are causing conflicts in their host communities. Some of them impregnate teenage girls and this has been leading to crises in those communities. This is aside from the usual problems they create.

“This is why we have been preaching women in governance so that you can collectively salvage the situation as mothers. You can contest any political office in your area as a woman, especially when you notice those who have been holding those offices are not doing it right.”

My pregnant girlfriend had sex with BOTH of my brothers –BOTH

My pregnant girlfriend had sex with BOTH of my brothers – and any of us could be the dad – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: MY girlfriend admitted to having sex with BOTH of my brothers. Now she’s pregnant – and any one of us could be the dad.
We’ve been together for two years. She’s bright and bubbly and works at a unisex hairdressers.
My girlfriend had sex with both of my brothers but any of us could be the dad
That’s where I met her when I went to have my usual haircut. She’d just left college then.
She is 20 now. I am 24, a computer programmer and a self-confessed geek.
I never thought she’d give me a second look but we got chatting and I swear she was flirting with me. There was a big queue for her but she suggested I go in again to have my beard tidied up.
When I called in the next day I asked her if she fancied a drink.
We started dating and then she met all my family. I’m one of three lads. My brothers are 22 and 27. They both seemed to like her.
I was new to dating but everything seemed to be going well and we had a brilliant sex life when we had the house to ourselves, which wasn’t often enough.
She then started easing off seeing me and I thought I was doing something wrong. We had about two months where I only saw her a couple of times.
I didn’t want to lose her and her birthday was coming up, so I booked us a weekend away in London with a dinner and a show. I planned to ask her to marry me.
Can I forgive her and bring up a child who may be my brother’s?
We went away as planned but she seemed off-hand with me. I was about to propose when we were having dinner but she said: “Can I say something? I haven’t been very fair on you.”
She went on to tell me that she’d had sex with both my brothers on five occasions in all.
To top it off she said she thinks she’s pregnant and she doesn’t know who the father is.
She said she’s sorry and she wants to be with me. I feel so stupid. I was about to make the ultimate commitment.
Can I forgive her and bring up a child who may be my brother’s?
DEIDRE SAYS: It would be a big ask. You have suffered a terrible betrayal. I know she is your first girlfriend but don’t rush into getting married just out of fear you will never find anyone else.
Trying to raise a child under these circumstances would be fraught with complications. Every family get-together would feel stressful.
As it is, you are going to have some tough questions for your brothers. You need to get this out in the open.
It doesn’t sound like your girlfriend is 100 per cent sure she is pregnant, so she needs to get a proper test done and think through the implications if it is positive. My e-leaflet on Unplanned Pregnancy can help her.

Australian PM concedes mistakes, but REFUSES TO SHIFT GROUND

Australian PM concedes mistakes, but likely won't drastically shift climate policy in light of fires

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Sunday conceded he's made some mistakes since the worst season of bushfires ever recorded in Australia broke out, The New York Times reports. He said he wouldn't have taken a heavily criticized family vacation to Hawaii in December while firefighters battled the blazes if he knew what he knows now, while acknowledging there were things he "could have handled on the ground much better."
He also called for a government inquiry into the government's response to the natural disaster. At least 28 people have been killed in the fires, including a firefighter who died overnight in the state of Victoria.
But despite the government now having a "new appetite" to take on a more direct role in the reaction to the fires, Morrison's words won't be much of a comfort for everyone. David Speers, the journalist who interviewed the prime minister Sunday, said his commitments will still likely fall short of many Australians' hopes. Many consider Morrison, who leads the conservative Liberal Party, to have implemented weak climate policies that have failed to curb the country's carbon emissions. But his plan in wake of the fires doesn't appear to be a dramatic shift toward combating climate change. Instead, he reiterated he doesn't want to put jobs at risk or raise taxes to lower emissions, and would rather enhance the country's policies for disaster management and relief, which he believes is just "as much a climate change response as emissions reductions." Trump wants Pelosi, Schiff as impeachment witnesses

Trump wants Pelosi, Schiff as impeachment witnesses

Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., arrives at the Capitol in Washington, Friday, Jan. 10, 2020. Pelosi hasn't relayed the articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial three weeks since President Donald Trump was impeached on charges of abuse and obstruction. Last night, she led the Democrat-controlled House in passing a measure limiting Trump's ability to take military action against Iran after he ordered the U.S. killing of a top Iranian general. Laura Albinson Laura Albinson of Pasadena, Md., displays a message for members of the House as they leave the Capitol in Washington, Friday, Jan. 10, 2020. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday the House will take steps next week to sent articles of impeachment to the Senate for President Donald Trump's Senate trial.

The House plans to vote this week to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate for the historic trial on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress over Trump's actions toward Ukraine. It will be only the third impeachment trial in American history.
“It’s about a fair trial,” Pelosi told ABC's “'This Week." “We’ve done our job. We have defended the Constitution of the United States. We would hope the Senate would do that as well.” She warned: "Now the ball is in their court to either do that or pay a price.”
Trump tweeted right before and after Pelosi's appearance, in both instances using derisive nicknames. He said both she and Schiff should appear in the Senate for testimony. “He must be a Witness, and so should she!” Trump tweeted.
The president also rebutted Pelosi's suggestion that no matter what the Senate does, the House vote last month means Trump will be “impeached forever" and “for life.” “Why should I have the stigma of Impeachment attached to my name when I did NOTHING wrong?” Trump tweeted, calling the House action a “totally partisan Hoax.'"
It is unlikely that the Republican-controlled Senate would call either Democrat to testify in the president's impeachment trial, which could start as soon as this week. The Democratic-run House is set to vote this week to send the articles of impeachment after Pelosi ended a more than three-week delay.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., seeking a speedy trial to acquit the president, is reluctant to seek more witnesses. McConnell has proposed a process similar to the last presidential impeachment trial of Bill Clinton in 1999 that would start the proceedings and then vote later on hearing new testimony.
One leading Republican, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, has already predicted that the trial would end ”in a matter of days.'' In a Fox News Channel interview on Saturday, Graham dismissed Pelosi's tactics, saying the delay would have no effect on calling new witnesses or the expected outcome — acquittal by the GOP-controlled Senate.
“The Senate should not reward this behavior by the House," said Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. "The Senate should end this trial as quickly as possible. That's what I intend to do. He will be acquitted. I hope and pray every Republican will reject what Nancy Pelosi did, and we'll pick up a few Democrats.''
Top Democrats defended Pelosi's decision to delay sending the articles of impeachment against the president, saying it produced new potential evidence and turned public attention on the upcoming trial.
"One of the things that holding on to the articles has succeeded doing is fleshing out McConnell and the president's desire to make this a cover up," Schiff said on CBS' “Face the Nation.” “If McConnell succeeds in making this trial a trial without witnesses.... That's not a fair trial. That's a sham,” he said.
Trump was impeached on charges that he abused his power by pressuring the president of Ukraine to investigate Democrats, specifically Trump political rival Joe Biden. Trump was also charged with obstruction of Congress for trying to block the House investigation.
While McConnell joined some Republicans in a resolution for votes to dismiss the charges against Trump, at least one Republican up for reelection, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, said last week she was in talks with colleagues to hear more testimony.
Schiff has rebuffed previous calls to testify, saying he was not a fact witness to the events. Pelosi said senators need to consider new witnesses, including former national security adviser John Bolton, who has said he would be willing to testify if he receives a subpoena.
Trump is blocking White House officials from appearing and reiterated last week he does not want his former top security adviser to testify before the Senate. House Democrats, who did not issue a subpoena for Bolton last year, did not rule out doing so now.
"Ït's certainly something that we are considering," Schiff said. Pelosi also left open the door to filing more articles of impeachment against Trump. “It’s Sunday morning — let's be optimistic about the future... a future that will not have Donald Trump in the White House, one way or another, 10 months from now we will have an election, if we don’t have him removed sooner,” she said.
Right before Pelosi was set to appear for the Sunday interview, Trump tweeted against Pelosi, calling her a derisive nickname, “Crazy Nancy.'' Asked about Trump's tweet, Pelosi said, "Every knock from him is a boost.”

9 Ways of Meeting New People Online

9 Ways of Meeting New People Online

Today, while juggling the obligations of studies and daily life, perhaps it has become a bit difficult to make time to meet new friends or dates – even if you are rather outgoing, it could be quite challenging. But with technology every day forming a large part of our lives, one of the options you have available is to encounter others online.
Many of us might often be convinced that the best way to make some brand new friendships is to go out and meet someone in real life. And that’s okay – but we also hesitate when it comes to some other ways of doing it.
Although the Internet might be observed as a not-so-secure option and a shallow alternative to “real” relationships, here’s a newsflash – it offers many possibilities to build some nice and long-lasting friendships in a simple way. And they don’t necessarily have to be superficial.
Just think about it. No space or time limits, it’s fun, numerous free applications and websites and a great possibility to connect with similar individuals from rather different backgrounds and conditions. And all that while being at any place in the world.
Ready to hear some tips on how to get the best out of this? Let’s see what we have here.
9.Virtual groups on Facebook
source: postcron.com
Although Facebook seems to have been suppressed by other, more catchy and popular apps lately, it still provides more than useful and fun ways to get some virtual friends. In case you’re interested in particular hobbies like fishing, reading, music, gardening or any other type of free time activities or occupations, there simply MUST be a Facebook group related to that.
Such groups are full of persons that might share the interests with you – it might start with likes, comments or a discussion, and end with private messages, some great acquaintances and much fun. Ready, set, search!
8.Forums
Yes, believe it or not – the forums still exist. And they still cover lots of different topics – basically, whatever comes to your mind.
The concept is almost identical to the one related to groups – we continue here with the logic of being able to contact individuals with similar interests via various threads and posts within the chosen forum.
This can lead to quite strong connections as you already have something in common with others in that community –  and that way, getting to know each other better and meeting face to face can simply be a matter of time.
7.Blogs
source: aqusagtechnologies.com
Let’s get things straight. When you decide to write a blog, you do it because deep inside you crave some opinions regarding your writing style, the things you write about and some discussions. You do it right, and voilà – you won’t need to wait much until you bump into some like-minded fellows who’ll be eager to debate and talk through their own points of view with you.
Not that keen on writing? Well, no worries – you’ll still be able to build some relations via blogs. Simply find the ones that capture your interest, read them and let their authors know that you’re there and that you’re paying attention to what they do. They’ll cherish it – and this might start some truly amazing stories.
6.Playing games on the Internet
This may surprise you but this maybe even a more powerful way to run across someone online than those apps or websites. This way players are having fun, playing tournaments, sometimes earning some cash, feeling various kinds of emotions… and things like this connect them.
After a certain time coinciding in the same game you might feel closer to other gamers, which will almost inevitably lead to more intensive contact and meeting in person in case these guys live somewhere near. And even if they don’t – this might be a great opportunity for them to come and visit, or they can host you instead.
5.Tinder
source: tubefilter.com
Tinder remains one of the most used tools worldwide to become acquainted with others but is basically used for online flirting. The usage is quite simple and as it’s so popular, it doesn’t matter where you are from since surely there are persons willing to meet you somewhere near.
You just need to browse through the photos of your possible matches on the smartphone, dragging them to the right if you like what you see (and read!), or to the left if that’s not the case.
When the person you liked likes you too, the application sends a message to both parties, and only then does it put you in touch so that you can start a private chat conversation. No unwanted messages from older guys, too young girls or the persons you aren’t attracted to.  Dope, right?
4 Badoo
It’s also a rather simple application to use and is intended primarily for young populations. This app has a search method that shows you the user photos of the ones who have some mutual interests with you. You just have to delineate the search criteria and then decide who you want to know more about among the images shown.
In addition, you can find out which members liked your photos or see if someone whom you liked also liked you. Getting started in Badoo is free, and the website provides the opportunity to create a profile, add pictures, find users in your area and chat with 10 new users every day.
3.Instagram
source: hhaulixdaily.com
Not much to say about this one – nowadays, Instagram has become more popular than any other social network app. No wonder why everyone is fascinated with it – it has everything that’s necessary to catch the attention of broad masses of the users. It doesn’t include groups or similar features, but it’s a great opportunity to get in touch with people anyway.
2.Camsurf
Those who feel confident and comfortable with video chat apps will simply love this one. Remember those chats like Omegle or Chatroulette? Well, this one comes as an improved version and it is called Camsurf.
It offers a great connection and also a possibility to choose the geographic location of the people you want to chat to. But the best part is yet to come – it has its own Terms and Conditions that forbid obscene or vulgar content and comments, thanks to which you’ll be able to enjoy some great conversations without having to deal with a bunch of naked or half-naked guys like on some other similar platforms. Yay!
1.Couchsurfing
source: couchsurfing.com
If there is an area in which you can combine having fun with getting familiar with other nations, it’s undoubtedly that of travel. Through Couchsurfing, you get in touch with other users of the website while offering them to stay at your place while traveling mostly for free, or searching for some free accommodation while traveling.
The best thing about all this? You get to know those people, share some magnificent stories, hang out, get to know more about each other’s cultures and much more. All this through fun and good vibes.

9 Easy Things You Can Do to Improve Your Health and Well-being

9 Easy Things You Can Do to Improve Your Health and Well-being

Maintaining both your physical and mental health is not always easy. Oftentimes, we are not even able to see that our health is deteriorating until we feel totally worn out. When we feel bad and are constantly tired, most of us have the habit of saying “Oh, it’s just stress. Things are crazy right now, it will pass.” Yes, stressful periods are normal occurrences – you might be worried about the money, your kids’ behavior, or maybe you are just swamped with work.
However, there is one thing that we all have to learn and that is to always find time to take care of ourselves. And this is going to be the main topic of this article. We are going to provide you with some advice, talk about the things you can benefit from, and most of all, we are going to try to keep things as simple as possible.

9
Good nutrition
source: soposted.com
Okay, you have probably expected this to be the first thing that we are going to mention, and without a doubt, it is the most important one. If you live a busy life meaning that you work full time, have small children, and are trying to maintain any kind of social life, spending a lot of time in the kitchen is probably the last thing that you want to do. This is completely understandable, and there is an easier way when it comes to eating healthy.
Instead of going to a fast food place on your lunch break, opt for a salad bar. Instead of ordering a burger, eat chicken breasts that are not only extremely healthy but are also low in calories. Instead of drinking soda, go with a freshly squeezed orange juice. If you need a snack, choose fruit instead of a chocolate bar. You see where we are going, right? Making some small changes are a great way to start your new life.

8
Regular exercises
By working out regularly, you are improving both your physical and mental well-being. When you exercise, your body produces serotonin so-called ‘a happy hormone’ which is why you feel so great after a fitness session.
Again, nowadays, going to a gym a few times a week is considered to be a luxury for some people, but there are so many different types of activities that are going to work just as well. Do you have a toddler that needs your attention 24/7? Just put them in the stroller and go brisk walking. Is your kid mastering the skill of bike-riding? Why not make a fun family day and go ride your bikes together?

This one is something that no one can live without, but many people are often sleep deprived. Some would say that they would like it if there were more hours in a day, while others are faced with problems like insomnia. If you are one of these, then you surely know all the tips – not to sleep in a room with the artificial light, not to use any device an hour before bed time, to take a relaxing bath and drink a cup of herbal tea in the evening, and so on.
However, we have got another tip for you and it is regarding the mattress. When they have trouble sleeping, many people don’t even think that the cause of the problem can be their mattress.
Not only can it be extremely uncomfortable, but in some cases, it can be dangerous for you because it is a perfect place for the development of the bacteria. We believe this to be enough reason for you to think about purchasing a toxic-free mattress and you can read more about some of the most popular ones on this website.

Pursue a hobby
Each one of us needs some activity that is going to help us unwind and, at the same time, allow us to express some aspect of our personality. Do you enjoy art? Great, go and buy tools and start painting, or start playing an instrument. On the other hand, take dance lessons or sign up for a language course.
As you can see, there are so many different things that you can opt for. The only thing that matters is that it is something that you are going to enjoy and maybe master some skills or get a new perspective on life.

5
Go out as often as you can
source: gearjunkie.com
It is a fact that people are social beings. Some of them might prefer their “alone” time. You know, they do not like to be surrounded by people and to be in the center of attention. It doesn’t matter if you are one of them you still need some people around you.
Yes, staying in and reading a book sounds tempting, but it is our advice to go out every chance you get. Go to the movies with friends or grab a cup of coffee. Building strong and thriving relationships is of crucial importance for your mental and emotional health.

4
Give back to the others
Another thing that is going to make you feel good about yourself is volunteering. Here, we are not only talking about charity and helping out in the shelters. You can also offer to teach someone a skill for free.
Are you a good speaker? Or do you speak some foreign language? Or maybe you make the best pasta in the world. These are all things that you can teach someone else, help them achieve their goal, and believe us, there isn’t a better feeling in the world.

3
Set up new goals
source: lifeandmyfinances.com
Don’t forget to challenge yourself constantly. Stagnating in the place for a long time can be extremely depressing. If you have that luxury, why not get a new job? Nothing is going to force you to thrive like a new work environment.
If you are happy with the major aspects of your life right now, you can always opt for some smaller goals like mastering a skill, traveling to some exotic country, and so on.

2
Start writing a journal
Writing down all your thoughts and feelings, especially negative ones, is the best way to deal with them. Sometimes it might not be easy to observe the situation from an objective point of view, and putting it down on the piece of paper is the best way to learn what is failing i.e. what needs to be changed.
In addition, writing down all your happy memories and important events in your life is great for ensuring that you are going to remember every tiny detail which made them so special.

Okay, we can put this one under the hobby category, but we believe that it is more important and that it deserves its own subheading. Reading a book isn’t only a great pastime activity, it is also something that is going to help you grow as a person.
This might seem cliché, but it is true. You are going to get familiar with people’s personalities, how they behave in certain situations, and you are going to learn more about people virtues and flaws, and so on.

Kenya Installs the First Solar Plant That Transforms Ocean Water Into Drinking Water

Kenya Installs the First Solar Plant That Transforms Ocean Water Into Drinking Water

The Earth is a watery place. In fact, 71 percent of our planet is covered in water [1]. Despite this, one in nine people do not have access to safe drinking water – that’s around 785 million people [2].
The trouble is, 96.5 percent of all Earth’s water is found in the oceans in the form of saline water, and is not drinkable for humans. That only leaves us with rivers, lakes, and groundwater to satisfy our water needs [1].
According to the World Economic Forum, the global water crisis ranks as the number four risk in terms of impact on society [3]. Let’s face it – humans need water to survive.
If you’re reading this from Canada or the United States, you may not understand this crisis on a personal level. After all, you can turn on a tap and have safe drinking water instantly start flowing from the faucet. This, however, is not the case for billions of people living on other continents. One NGO (Non-Government Organization) is trying to change that.

GivePower

GivePower

Give Power’s mission is to install solar energy technologies that will bring essential services to developing communities in need [4]. Their most recent break-through project installed a solar-powered desalination system to bring clean, healthy water to the people in Kiunga, a rural village in Kenya [4].
With this technology, the salty ocean water will now be a viable source of water for the people living in this village. The system is capable of producing about 70 thousand litres or drinkable water every day, which is enough for up to 35 thousand people [4].

The Global Water Crisis

This ground-breaking new process could not come any sooner. The 785 million people mentioned earlier is just beginning. According to the World Health Organization, around 2.2 billion people worldwide do not have access to safely-managed water services, 4.2 billion people do not have safely managed sanitation services, and three-thousand-million lack basic facilities for washing hands [9].
This means that even those who do have a source of freshwater nearby may not be able to drink it because it does not get adequately cleaned.
This is particularly true for people in poor or rural areas. Data shows that eight out of ten people living in rural areas lacked access to basic sanitation services, and coverage of basic services among the richest groups was at least twice as high as the poorest [9].

Desalination: Then and Now

Desalination is a process wherein salts and other minerals are separated from your water. To do this, you have to force the water through a membrane (think of it like an extraordinarily fine sieve) [5].
The trouble is, any solution (water included) likes to stay balanced. It naturally wants to have equal amounts of water, salt, and minerals on either side of the membrane. This is called osmotic pressure [6]. In order to remove the salt and minerals from the water, you have to overcome this force, which requires immense amounts of energy [5].
Traditional desalination processes also require large amounts of chemicals, including pH adjusters, coagulants and flocculants, deposit control agents (antiscalants, dispersants), biocides and reducing chemicals. In post-treatment, chemicals include chlorine, anti-corrosion additives and compounds for remineralization [7].
GivePower has solved these problems through a new technology called “solar water farms” [8]. The system uses solar panels that produce fifty kilowatts of energy, the energy is stored by two high-performance Tesla batteries, and it uses two water pumps that operate 24 hours per day [8].
The quality of water it produces is better than that of a typical water desalination plant, and does not produce the saline residues and pollutants they create which are harmful to animals and the environment [8].

Changes Lives in Kiunga

Before GivePower installed their new solar-powered desalination system, the people of Kiunga, Kenya, had to travel for one hour to reach their only source of water. This water came from a well that was located on the same channel that animals use for bathing, and was full of pollutants and parasites [8].
This was the only water for them to drink, bathe, and wash their belongings.
“They were basically poisoning their families with this water,” says Hayes Barnard, president of GivePower [8].
Now, the 3 500 residents of Kiunga have fresh, safe drinking water coming straight from a tap.

Water for the World

After the profound success of the pilot project in Kiunga, GivePower plans to build more plants to relieve water scarcity in other parts of the world. They have already installed solar panels in 2 500 schools, businesses, and emergency services in seventeen countries, and are raising funds to build more “solar water farms” [8].
With this new technology, a future where water is accessible to everyone may be within reach.

Iranian students REFUSE to step on US and Israeli flags after Trump warns regime not to kill protesters

Iranian students REFUSE to step on US and Israeli flags after Trump warns regime not to kill protesters

IRANIAN students have been filmed refusing to step on US and Israeli flags during anti-government protests.
Trump has tried to protect them by telling Iranian authorities not to kill protesters who are angry over the downing of a Ukranian airliner last Tuesday that killed all 176 onboard, most of them Iranian. Students avoided walking on the flags painted by the regime at the entrance of the university

The video shows student protesters at Shaheed Beheshti University deliberately walking around a painted American flag and the Israeli Star of David.
Ali Khamenei's regime is said to have painted the flags at the main entrance of the university for students to walk over as a sign of disrespect.
This is another example of how the Iranian regime's line of anti-west rhetoric is being undermined by younger generations who have a less conservative attitude.
Students have been a strong voice in protests over the weekend demanding Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's resignation over the incident.

REGIME UNDERMINED

Video has also surfaced of a young Iranian man telling reporters that Iranians love the US, but hate Trump during public marches against the assassination of Soleimani last week.
Trump has backed the protests, warning Iranian authorities 'not to kill' protesters over the weekend.
The president had previously sent a message of support to the people of Iran on Saturday evening, saying 'we are inspired by your courage' as thousands of angry demonstrators protested the regime in the streets of Tehran.
"To the brave, long-suffering people of Iran: I've stood with you since the beginning of my Presidency, and my Administration will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely, and are inspired by your courage,' Trump tweeted in English and in Farsi.
"The government of Iran must allow human rights groups to monitor and report facts from the ground on the ongoing protests by the Iranian people. There can not be another massacre of peaceful protesters, nor an internet shutdown. The world is watching." he added.

Huge crowds gathered as they chanted against the Iranian leaders on Saturday night
Riot cops flooded in with tear gas on Saturday night as they tried to break up the large groups outside Amirkabir University, who demanded justice.
Around 1,000 protesters chanted "down with the dictator" and "shame on IRGC [Revolutionary Guard], let the country go".
This is a stark contrast to previous protests, particularly following the news of General Soleimani's assassination, where protesters were pictured burning US, UK and Israeli flags.
While at Sharif University, crowds shouted "commander in chief, resign!" as demonstrators ripped up pictures of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Guard's Quds Force killed in a US drone strike.
Britain's ambassador to Iran Rob Macaire was arrested after allegedly "inciting" the crowds.
There are also shocking reports of flyers being distributed to students to recruit them as suicide bombers against the US and Israel.
The fliers are the most recent example of the regime's attempts to recruit jihadi's and stoke resentment against its enemies that has been common practice in Iran for decades.
Iran’s security forces have deployed in large numbers across Tehran tonight as it braces for more demonstrations from protesters angered by the downed plane.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard admitted to accidentally shooting down a Ukranian flight Tuesday as they fired ballistic missiles at two Iraqi military bases housing U.S. forces.

Robert Abela wins election to be prime minister of Malta

Robert Abela wins election to be prime minister of Malta and calls for unity after Joseph Muscat's resignation over journalist's murder

Political newcomer Robert Abela is set to become Malta’s new prime minister after being elected leader of the ruling party in the wake of a scandal over the murder of an investigative journalist.

Mr Abela, a 42-year-old lawyer, faces a turbulent political environment after the forced exit of Joseph Muscat in the wake of the controversy.

Mr Muscat announced his resignation last month, surrendering to political pressure and widespread public anger over his alleged attempt to protect his allies from a probe into the 2017 killing of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Mr Muscat has repeatedly denied any involvement in the journalist’s murder, promising to do whatever possible to find out who plotted and executed it.

However, when it emerged in November that some of his friends and closest political allies were involved in the probe, popular protests mounted, with thousands of people marching in the streets of Valletta to urge Mr Muscat’s immediate resignation.Protests over the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia cost Joseph Muscat his job - Credit: ReutersProtests over the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia cost Joseph Muscat his job - Credit: Reuters

The scandal drew harsh criticism from EU members and forced Mr Muscat to kickstart the process to elect a new leader of his Labour party.

Mr Abela won nearly 58 per cent of the vote held on Saturday by the party’s eligible members, defeating rival Chris Fearne, who was supported by several cabinet ministers.

"I am humbled. I thank my friend Chris (Fearne) and look forward to working together for the good of the party and country,” said Abela, who is the son of George Abela, Malta’s president between 2009 and 2014.

Both candidates had pledged continuity with Mr Muscat during their political campaign. Mr Muscat congratulated Mr Abela on his victory, saying on Twitter that he will be proud to handle the prime minister’s office over to him on Monday.

Mr Muscat had come under increasing pressure to quit since his former chief of staff Keith Schembri was arrested in connection with the killing of Caruana Galizia.

Mr Schembri, who denies wrongdoing, was later released, but is still under investigation. Three men are facing trial for carrying out the assassination, while a fourth, the prominent Maltese businessman Yorgen Fenech, has been charged with complicity in the murder. He has pleaded not guilty.  People lay flowers and candles at a makeshift memorial during a vigil to Caruna Galizia  - Credit: REUTERS/Darrin Zammit LupiPeople lay flowers and candles at a makeshift memorial during a vigil to Caruna Galizia  - Credit: REUTERS/Darrin Zammit Lupi

The wide net of corruption allegations involving powerful Maltese politicians and businessmen had been the focus of Caruana Galizia’s investigations. She had been sent threats shortly before being killed in a car bomb on Oct. 17, 2017.

Mr Schembri was among the government members named in her reports. Eight months before her death, Caruana Galizia had written about a mysterious Dubai-registered company, 17 Black.

The company was listed in the Panama Papers - leaked documents that revealed how the rich and powerful use tax havens to get around the law.

Caruana Galizia alleged that 17 Black had links to both Mr Schembri and former Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi, who also resigned last month following the latest developments in the case.  Mr Mizzi also denies any wrongdoing.

Mr Fenech, the businessman charged after the government turned down his request for immunity from prosecution in return for revealing information about the murder plot, was identified last year as the owner of 17 Black.

Soleimani’s killing: Emir visits Iran over rising tension between US

Soleimani’s killing: Emir visits Iran over rising tension between US

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has visited Iran amid rising tension between Iran and the US.

The visit followed the killing of an Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani in a drone airstrike, Anadolu Agency reports, according to Middle East Monitor.

This was contained in a statement by the Qatari Royal Court, which revealed that Tamim will “hold talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and senior officials on bilateral relations and regional developments.”

The Qatari leader will also meet with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to discuss regional developments.

Tension soared in the region after the US killed Qasem Soleimani, a top Iranian general, in a drone airstrike outside Baghdad airport earlier this month.

Iran retaliated with firing a dozen ballistic missiles at Iraqi bases housing US troops.

Last week, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani visited Tehran for talks aimed at easing tension in the region following Soleimani’s killing.

how salmon fish was used to hard drugs in seattle

Seattle-Caught Salmon Found To Contain Cocaine, Antidepressants, And Pain Relievers

81 drugs and personal-care products were detected in the flesh of salmon caught in the Puget Sound.

Salmon is purported to be one of the healthiest foods due to its high omega-3 content, protein, and essential fatty acids, but if the fish is obtained from the Puget Sound, it is anything but healthy.

According to this study, up to 81 drugs and personal-care products were detected in the flesh of salmon caught in the Puget Sound. Some of the drugs include Prozac, Advil, Benadryl, Lipitor, and even cocaine. The Seattle Times reports that the levels are believed to be so high because either people in the area use more of the drugs detected, or because waste water plants are unable to fully remove the chemicals during treatment. Another theory is that leaky septic tanks are contributing to the problem, as high fecal coliform counts were detected.

Said Jim Meador, an environmental toxicologist at NOAA’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle:
“The concentrations in effluent were higher than we expected. We analyzed samples for 150 compounds and we had 61 percent of them detected in effluent. So we know these are going into the estuaries.”

Samples were gathered over two days for the study, and both migratory juvenile chinook salmon and resident staghorn sculpin were tested. Chemicals were found not only in the tissue of the fish but in the water. And, the researchers suggest, it is likely the study underreports the amount of drugs in the water close to outfall pipes, or in deeper water.

Some of the drugs and contaminates found include Flonase, Aleve, Tylenol, Paxil, Valium, Zoloft, Tagamet, OxyContin, Darvon, Nicotine, caffeine, Fungicides, antiseptics, anticoagulants, as well as plenty of antibiotics.Seattle-Caught Salmon Found To Contain Cocaine, Antidepressants, And Pain Relievers

Intriguingly, the researchers are not concerned about the effect the cocktail of drugs will have on the humans who eat the fish, but they are concerned about how the chemicals are affecting wildlife. Reportedly, Meador’s other recent work has shown that juvenile chinook salmon migrate through contaminated estuaries in Puget Sound and die at twice the rate of fish elsewhere. That seems like cause for concern.Unfortunately, it not likely the contamination will let up. According to one study, 97,000 pounds of drugs and chemicals could be entering the Puget Sound each year.

Like the issues of plastic pollution and reckless carbon output, this conundrum is a man-made problem that requires human involvement and attention to remedy.
